Re: [TCLUG:15736] MediaOne
I just got mediaone roadrunner installed on saturday. We have about 6
computers on a personal lan here at home but the guys who came to install it
were pretty cool about it. They didn't ask me to disconnect it or anything.
I set up a second nic card on the computer that was going to be connected to
the cable modem and they did it from there. All they did was hook the modem
up to the card and call in the modem number and mac address of the nic card
the modem was attached to. Cable service was available about a week ago
here. I called them last friday and they said a guy could be out here
wednesday (5 days later), so the wait wasn't long at all, i suppose that
depends upon where you live though. The speeds are pretty fast, varying
between 100 and 170KB/sec. Uploads go slower from 30-40KB/sec. I'm pretty
satisfied although i've only had it for 2 days now. Today there was about a
10 minute outage. And as i look at their website, they've had an outage
just about every day now for the past week.
