Ask people you know in ne.mediaone.net terratory. They seem to love it
too.

Most of the problems of cable have been from @home cable companies putting
too many lusers on a 'node' or segment. They were packing tons of users
and then rating them down to nothing to 'ensure service' to everyone.

The upside about mediaone here is that they just redid the network. And
that there are tons of nodes. I dont know how many people they are
packing per node tho.. im on tap 14 of my node.... im guessing they try
to keep it under 30-40 so if everyone got it they could get near full
bandwidth. keep in mind, they also are running telephone services over
these lines, so they *have* to keep it manageable and low people/node to
gaurantee the QoS of the phone lines.

They offer 1.5mbit down and 300kbit(? or was it 500) up.
These are advertised transfer rates that I dont think they can just drop
tommrow without some backlash from everyone.

Also, mediaone lets you buy more dhcp leases. :) I never heard of @home
doing this anywhere.

At least two of us on the list are currently using mediaone and as far as
I know, the other person has had no problems at all. The techs over the
phones are pretty good, when i called to add at dhcp lease he just asked
for the hwaddr, didn't care what os or anything. The installer guy seemed
to care less what OS i was running on the box with the initial install (my
dad's NT box).

I like it over the prospects of IDSL ;)
