eth0 problems (cont.)

A quick update on my ethernet problem. It's still not working.

For whatever reason, my NIC (a Kingston KNE100TX, a "tulip" card) is not
being initialized (if that's the right word) when the computer starts up.
I powered down completely and rebooted, but it didn't help. Someone
suggested that it may have lost its IRQ and memory settings when the power
went out, and I think that's probably what happened.

Unfortunately (or fortunately depending on how you look at it), I can't
boot into DOS and fix the problem because I don't have DOS loaded on this
computer. It's a Linux only machine. Kingston's website has some what
appears to be utility software to download, but it's Win95/8/NT only. It
won't run from a floppy either. It's a program that needs to be
installed on the hard disk.

Any ideas?

Another power outage related problem: My science department server is no
longer handing out IP addresses. (These problems are not related because
the Linux box on my desk is attached to a different server.) I've killed
dhcpd and restarted it, but still nothing. The eth0 interface is active on
the server, but nothing attached to it can get an IP address. Suggestions?

Thanks.
