OK, so I'm looking to try COW. I must confess, though, that I'm
having a rather hard time with the ftp sites. I have no idea what a
'binary' is, but I tried to download it from
www.cow.netrek.org/stable/ for Win95 and winzip didn't recognize it
as a zip file. So I went to the bigbang.astro.indiana.edu ftp site,
which said there was a port of COW 3.0 for win95. When I found
something that claimed to be COW 3.0, it was dated 1998 some
time and refused to run, claiming it was too out date. I went to
ftp.netrek.org/pub/netrek/clients/cow/COW-bin and was faced with
an array of incomprehensible file names, and a readme file dated
1998 asserting that there was no Win95 port.

I would greatly appreciate it if someone would explain to me which
file I should download and if possible, why. I'm sorry if I'm sounding
like an idiot but I'm really lost here. And if I'm lost, think of how
encouraging this whole thing would be to a newbie...

Thanks,
