The hex string bt. the BEGIN and END is the output of AT&V2 command.
It gives you additional information such as Signal to Noise ratio,
retrain requested by server, retrain requested by client, whether
client is a USR modem, etc. Rockwell has a program to parse these
results. It's free.
Here is an example of the parsed output:
