Pretty brave running the [i]ncremental stuff :)
IMHO sounds like you should upgrade to atleast 5.0AP33 - I say AP33 because
that is what we are running and it seems to have fixed "most" of the 56k
issues here and seems stable.
We are still having trouble with some X2 modems and a handfull of some
others which we're trying to chase down though but for the most part things
are better with 5.0Ap33.
