>With the 1-D controlling many 24B, you do chance the disaster >scenario where losing that physical line would kill signaling for >the entire group....BUT how often has that happened to anyone ? With Ascend's recomendations to only put 2 trunks in a 40xx, NFAS doesn't do anything... however if you have multiple MAX units all in a hunt group, you can configure them all as 23B+D/24B, then in the event of a D channel failure you WILL loose two trunks, but the hunt group will still have other Maxen. Of possible interest is that some CLECs charge more for a D than for a B, ex: A local access PRI from MCI, a B chan is $20-$30/month and a D chan is $100, so you save $70/mo per trunk pair to consolidate two trunks to one D. -Jim H ---- Jim Howard Sr Network Engineer Lyceum Internet jhoward@lyceum.com http://www.lyceum.com/ 404.248.1733 My PGP Public Key: http://www.lyceum.com/~jhoward/pgp-key.txt Fingerprint: 7E8B E2BA 1314 2535 CB08 CFF9 119B 7CD3 2488 954D ++ Ascend Users Mailing List ++ To unsubscribe: send unsubscribe to ascend-users-request@bungi.com To get FAQ'd: <http://www.nealis.net/ascend/faq>

Prev by Date: Re: (ASCEND) NFAS?

Next by Date: Re: (ASCEND) Pipe75 dialing into Courier I-modem @128k

Prev by thread: Re: (ASCEND) NFAS?

Next by thread: (ASCEND) Best Version?

Index(es):

Main

Thread
