Re: (ASCEND) Radius Accounting Problem

We haven't had any problems with the TC authenticating with Ascend's
RADIUS. Here's one radius entry (mine):

willp Password = "UNIX"
	User-Service-Type = Framed-User,
	Framed-Protocol = PPP,
	Framed-Routing = None,
	Framed-Netmask = 255.255.255.255,
	Framed-MTU = 1500

I can't say that we've made any progress with getting the TC to send
proper accounting packets. I'm sure it's possible-- but this list really
isn't the place for it. I know that ComOS is sometimes picky on 'special'
characters in passwords. A dollar sign in particular makes either ComOS
or the livingston utilities fail to authenticate. Probably fixed in some
new beta whatever- but you might want to look at that.

All I can say about 5.0Ai13 is that it is finally _fantastic_ to see
connection rates (users' downstream) in there.

It wasn't made clear that 5.0Ai13 reports connection rate reporting for
both upstream and downstream _not_ only via Radius, but via SNMP queries
as well. It's very, very handy.

Now to ascend: I like the Finger support in 5.0Ai13, but on a max 4004 we
have- it responded to finger requests just fine for a while, and then
stopped. It answers the port, but sends no data. Not that it's at all
critical for us- we use SNMP and radius together to effectively monitor
and log, but just so you know.
