(ASCEND) Upgrade

     Kevin,

     An Ascend engineer in Canada seems to think that the i series of
     software only supports Max 4xxx's with 56kb modems and claims there's
     no support for the Max 200. You would not agree..correct? The i
     series should fix the problem of the pcA incompatibility, work with a
     Max 4004 with standard 28.8/33.6 modems and there's a version for the
     Max 200 as well. Max 200 support is specified in the readme.

     ftp://ftp.ascend.com/pub/Software-Releases/Max/Incremental/Release-5.0
     Ai10/

     we see..

     b.m2            Max 200     BRI w/ RIP/IPX support
     ba.m2           Max 200     BRI w/ RIP/IPX/Appletalk support

Nicole;

Here is the following information that I have to date:

5.0Ap6 -> Fix for TR 1898 on MAX 40xx with 56K modem cards ONLY, not for
the older V.34 DM-12s or DM-8s.
5.0Ai10-> No reported fix for TR 1898
4.6Dp3-> Fix for TR 1898 for MAX 1600s

TR 1898 = MAX would reset without fatal error when it ran PC Anywhere.

Summary:
At the present time I can only recomend that you upgrade the MAX 1600s with
4.6Dp3. Currently, there is no released code for the MAX 40xx series using
the Modem cards that you are employing. Secondly there is no reported fix
for the MAX 200+. Were they ever experiencing the same problems ?

As soon as I have any word with regards to the MAX 40xxs and the MAX 200+s
I'll let you know.

Regards;
John Marks
