AFAIK 5.0Ap1 never gave an unsolicited prompt. It was a bug fixed in
p4 or p5.

Hmm, recognizing ppp after the login prompt was introduced some time
ago. At least it works with 5.0Ap13.

Well, he _could_ use use "X.75". But I would not want to judge which is
worse :-)
