(ASCEND) USR 56K Winmodems V.90
I hope someone can help with this problem.
I've got 3 customers with USR 56K winmodems (V.90 compliant), and they all
report the same behavior. The modem will dial my local POP, the handshake
starts, then it ends with just a long steady tone. DUN eventualy gives back
the error message "the computer you are dialing is not answering. Try again
later." The same results are gained when a connection is attempted using
hyperterm.
Nothing seems to work to get these folks online. DUN has been reloaded, as
well as the modem drivers. In two cases the users can connect to
gateway.net (they have gateway computers), but I don't know about the
third.
It seems like the modems are not even trying to negotiate a PPP connection.
Any help, or insights, would be greatly appreciated.
