To be fair, we use it quite differently from most places. We do a lot of
pure ISDN and actually have the boxes act as routers. We placed 4 PRI on
one such box and the throughput was markedly bad. Lots of latency and
packet loss.

What sort of performance are the customers on those boxes seeing, and what
types of connections are most popular? What sort of cards are in them?
I'd wager if you stuck 4 PRI into a MAX4000 and filled it with v.34 cards
and had it serve IP's, you might be able to get away with it. Any other
combination and I wouldn't trust it. Especially with the mortality rate
of the 56k cards and some of the power issues that have been discussed
here.
