RE: (ASCEND) replacing modems in MAX4000

It's been a few years, but here's the procedure I remember:

1. Power down the Max
2. Remove old modems
3. Insert new modems
4. Power up the max
5. Load new software (7.0.xx/ftik.m40)
6. Reboot Max
7. See that the Max doesn't recognize the new modems
8. Call Support and open a ticket
9. Get a call back in 3 days
10. Explain the problem
11. Listen to the "engineer" scratch his head
12. 2 hours later, find out that you need hash
    codes to enable the new modems.
13. Wait another 4 days for the new hash codes
14. Enter the hash codes
15. Reboot the max
16. Start taking calls


Please note that in step 9, we only had to wait on hold for about 2 minutes,
and in step 13, it only took about 45 minutes.  I've adjusted the time to
corrospond with Lucent's current response times.

Best suggestion would be to insert Step 0 as "Obtain new hash codes", then
eliminate steps 7-13.
