(ASCEND) mac client problem

Hi,

does anybody know of any problems with mac clients using configPPP to the
max 40xx series of boxes?

We got max 4004s running 7.0.0 (also tried 6.1.7 too)
Mac client is MacOS 7.5, ConfigPPP 2.1.2SD, External SupraExpress 33.6
modem

I've since got it to work with FreePPP, but I still cant figure out why
ConfigPPP wont work to it. if i turn on radif and pppif and watch the
session it shows the call coming in, then RADIF shows the
username/password being authenticated to the RADIUS server via PAP, ACK
sent back, PPPIF says "noAuth" for initAuthentication, which is weird
because the combo was already sent to radius and authorized. Then PPPIF
says "link is up". Then it just sits there for about 30 seconds (client
still says "Establishment") then PPPIF comes with "LCP Neg. Timeout" and
the call drops.
I've tried every option I can think of in ConfigPPP. I've turned PAP on
for remote, off for local, on for both, off for both, etc.. no dice, yet
FreePPP goes right through.

It might also be worthy to note the ConfigPPP connects fine to a 3com
Total Control Chassis (w/Netserver card) however fails connection to a
3com TC HiperARC Chassis with the same LCP Neg. timeout. 3com is stumped
too.
