I think you are looking at the exceptions and not the rules.

They are not the only thing that is weak about MS Office proprietary
formats. Some products have a difficult time translating between
versions of the same program on the same OS, so it really isn't a Linux
problem. It is an Office problem, and it sucks.

No, it definitely does not. It can import them, and it may even be able
to save them, but that is not the same thing.

If gun laws in fact worked, the sponsors of this type of legislation
should have no difficulty drawing upon long lists of examples of
criminal acts reduced by such legislation. That they cannot do so
after a century and a half of trying -- that they must sweep under the
rug the southern attempts at gun control in the 1870-1910 period, the
northeastern attempts in the 1920-1939 period, the attempts at both
