My comments about the stats & database proposals:

Some tools I were planning to write for the LTD stats might have bearing
here.

For debugging, I use a verbose ASCII text stats dump in the form of:
ca.kills.total                = 2
sc.kills.max                  = 2.000000
bb.kills.first                = 0
sb.kills.first_potential      = 0
all.kills.first_converted     = 0

[...]

Then I decided that it was a good permanent format even if quite verbose.

Using this, I was hoping/planning to -
1) write a script that will take the input and extract the PW's
2) write a script that will create an HTML output in a readable format
3) write an HTML front end to edit these stats and save them in liu of
   hacking up pledit (which is clearly broken with LTD)
4) write a script to load the stats into a database of some sort so that
   we can extract interesting info (such as those at Hall of Twink and Rewl)
   that cross seasons

I agree with James that having the server be dependent on a database package
is a bad idea.  A loader script should be sufficient.

If others are interested in helping with some of this (my knowledge of
perl is poor), I am willing to commit all of my interim changes to CVS under
a separate branch this week.  Some of the stats still don't work right now,
but all the fields are constant.
